| PRESS RELEASE LARRY QUINTANA FOR ACSD14 SCHOOL BOARD In announcing my candidacy for the Adams County School District 14 School Board I can note my consistency on how I feel about education. Thirty five years ago I believed in guidelines to improve the educational system, equal education for ALL children, and representation of school board members in the state house and standardized financing for all schools providing the same standards of education for all economic classes. I have spent 35 years promoting the VALUE OF AN EDUCATION to individuals and organizations. As an advocate for our youth I have been involved in Child Advocacy Programs, Juvenile Probation Programs, Cub Scout Leader, Little League Baseball Coach, Sunday and Vacation Bible School teacher, Youth Pastor, Counselor, Mentor and serving the needs of children caught up in the correctional system. I have championed the need for an education with every child I have worked with and every organization I work in. As a product of the Community College system having received a number of degrees from a variety of these two year institutions I have guided students in this direction when either a higher education was out of reach financially or they sought direction in their lives after graduation from high school. I worked a full time job. attended college, participated in hundreds of hours of Leadership and Technical Training from my employer of 38 years as well as community and church organizations. I served in the US Army after graduating from Adams City Sr. High in 1963 and completed my time in the service with a tour of duty in Vietnam. Connie my wife of 39 years, and I raised our two children in Commerce City and they are also graduated of ACSD 14. I also served as a Pastor and Co-pastor of two churches in our community. I have spent the last two years attending all but one school board meeting, a number of study session, and community forums on district 14 related matters, as well as rally's of various sorts sponsored by the district. My reason for this is based on my personal need to first educate myself before I attempt to look towards the educational needs of our most important resource, the children that live in District 14. I also believe this will greatly reduce the training required to effectively serve on the School Board, a matter of importance to the students of the district and those who support the district with their tax dollars. I am presently serving as the Communications Director of the Monaco Neighborhood Improvement Committee, a member of the Steering Committee for the Commerce City Immigration Integration (One Community) Committee, the ADCO United Neighborhood Committee, the Commerce City Music Makers, a recent appointee to the ADCO Community Development Advisory Board and Director of the Berean Family Forum, a faith base ministry. I also serve on ACSD 14 Bond Expenditure Committee and served on a past ACSD 14 Budget Committee. I Co-chaired the CC Citizens for a New High School last election and am active participant in my neighborhood school’s PTO program.
